Description
Interior nose section of B-17 bomber. The B-17, also known as the Flying Fortress was originally designed in the 1930s as a heavy bomber for use by the United States Army Air Corps (later to become the United States Army Air Force) in World War II for precision bombing. It became legend as a high altitude, long range bomber with extensive defensive weapons and the ability to remain operational after sustaining extensive damage. This image is one of the few B-17s that remain air worthy
